Our services - PhDr. Lucie Bělohlávková

Everyone has faced fear and anxiety. Its intensity can be different, from a mild nervousness to an enormous experience of fear. As a result, we typically try to avoid such situations. We are surrounded by fear not only when facing particular situations or objects, but even if we only anticipate and think about them.

This type of fear is called a phobia. It is a permanent fear of "something" (e.g. confined spaces, unknown people, spiders, elevators, heights, etc.), which is often misunderstood by people around us.

We always feel such fear when there is a threat of facing its cause (e. g. spider).

Such fear is absolutely overwhelming, very intense, and linked with unpleasant physical sensations.

Mental symptoms are:

  • fear of losing control, or of going insane
  • fear of losing consciousness
  • fear of death

Physical symptoms are:

  • palpitation (= a physical condition in which your heart beats very quickly)
  • shaking
  • dry mouth
  • fast breathing
  • muscle tension
  • dizziness
  • nausea (= a feeling that you may faint)
  • tingling sensation (of a part of your body)

Most common phobias include:

  • Social Phobia - Fear of being evaluated negatively in social situations.
  • Agoraphobia - Fear of open spaces or of being in crowded, public places like markets. Fear of leaving a safe place.
  • Arachnophobia - Fear of spiders.
  • Claustrophobia - Fear of confined spaces.
  • Acrophobia - Fear of heights.
  • Aichmophobia - Fear of needles or pointed objects.

Among the most interesting phobias are:

  • Gamophobia - Fear of marriage.
  • Ergophobia - Fear of work.
  • Hedonophobia - Fear of feeling pleasure.
  • Phobophobia - Fear of phobias.

If you think that you suffer some above-mentioned phobias, or you simply feel some of their symptoms, we could find a solution together. Our ViaFit centre offers specialized courses focused on improving a lifestyle and, as a part of individual counseling, deal also with phobias.

Within our therapies, we use a cognitive-behavior method, which is demonstrably one of the most useful methods. This course to deal with phobias is based on 45–90min. meetings, on a weekly basis (a standard therapeutic period).

For exposure purposes, the therapy could also be held outside the counseling centre (within the same time limit.

Feel free to come and talk about your problems, as we believe that we can find a solution. Please fill in a contact form for more information.
